This delicious sangria embodies summer — and it’s perfect for a barbecue.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes (+ 1 hour chilling time)
Serves: 10

  • 1 (750 mL) bottle Matua Sauvignon Blanc
  • 6 cups cubed watermelon
  • 3/4 cup vodka
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime rounds

Shake all ingredients in a Boston glass (except passionfruit pulp), strain into a tall glass full of ice and passionfruit. Garnish with a slice or two of lime.

  1. In blender, purée watermelon.
  2. In large bowl or serving vessel, combine wine, puréed watermelon, vodka, simple syrup and lime juice. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until chilled.
  3. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes; divide sangria among glasses. Garnish with lime rounds.

Transform the watermelon into a pitcher! Just slice one-third off the top; scoop out the watermelon pulp, then transfer the chilled mixture into the watermelon. Serve with a ladle!
